Okay only those who have had a REALLY scary thing happen to them will relate to this poem. I wrote this after something happened at my dad's. It's sorta long.

I know what it's like to feel helpless
I know what it's like to feel bullied
I know what it's like to feel powerless
I know what it's like
To feel small and insignificant
Like no one cares
When your breath catches in your chest
And suddenly, you find it hard to breathe
And someone is yelling
And you find yourself screaming
And all you want is out
Death, should be better than this
You run away
You run far away
Only to find that you're trapped
You're caught in a corner
And there's no way out
And there's only one person on your mind
Only one you'd like to call
Only one you truly need
And you can't
Phones are ripped from walls
And hidden in the locked room
And no matter how hard you pound on that door
No matter how hard you scream and cry
That door won't open
There's only one thing you hear
Coming from the other side of that door
And that is to be quiet
Because someone is sleeping
But you know that's bullshit
The whole house is wide awake
You slump against the door
So Scared and not knowing what to do
And then someone shows up at your door
Someone in a blue hat and uniform
At last!
Someone you can trust through to the end
Someone who has pledged their lives to protect
Then the locked door opens
You get pushed aside
And they go to talk to that officer
Your heart jumps
Finally, someone who will stick up for you
But no
They too, soon turn to leave
The ones who are supposed to protect you
The ones whom you're supposed to go to
If you're in trouble
Now what?
You're left home alone again
With the ones that scare you so
They scream and they yell
And as the tears stream down your face
You put down your head
They continue to shout
And you run away
And you try to relax
To calm yourself down
But you can't
It's no use
Because you're so scared
Rarely do people ever feel this truly scared
And you can only know what I mean
If you have ever felt it
Otherwise forget it
You don't know what it's like to feel persecuted
You don't know what it's like to be
Completely and utterly helpless
With no way out
No where to turn
And your stomach starts to hurt
But you don't really notice
Because your whole body is pulsing
With fear
Because there is literally
No where to go
No where to hide
No where to cry
No where to lie
No where to know
No way to know
No way to laugh
No way to smile
No way to talk
And your breath catches
At any slightest movement or creak
Are they coming back? You ask yourself
You find yourself counting down
The minutes to school the next day
And you go to the bathroom
Turn on the light
And sit on the counter
Your back to the wall
So you can see everything
With your arms wrapped around your knees
I waited for everyone else to wake
